Omschrijving | Note: Before completion of the Master Research Project the student must have followed the compulsory module on scientific integrity. It is advisable for the student to follow this module at the earliest opportunity during the overall master period. The master research project is a core module in the master degree course in Chemistry. It is to be completed with a master thesis. The student has to work independently on a research project in the field of Chemistry. The protocol of an MSc thesis comprises the following steps: 1. The student may choose his/her own research topic upon discussion with Professors, PhD students or post-docs of the department of Chemistry. It is suggested to the students to schedule appointment with representatives of several active research group at the Chemistry department soon after starting the Master studies; 2. Preliminary literature study, problem formulation and planning; 3. Developing, together this the project supervisor/s a preliminary research proposal including: title, name, student number; supervisor/s, short state of the art, approach, expected results, timing and literature; 4. Handing in the project proposal and a list of the achieved courses (supervisor/s of the department); 5. Literature study, orientation and careful consideration of the different phases; 6. Actual work (experimental and/or theoretical); 7. Analyze, interpret and discuss results in relation with the state of the art during regular discussion with supervisor/s (including results presentation and modification of the original research proposal if and when needed); 8. Writing the final scientific report and give an oral presentation; 9. Assessment and calculation of the examination mark; 10. Providing the Education Support Desk the following documents: 1) copy of the Thesis, upload in repository 2) evaluation form signed by the review committee (at least two persons: supervisor/s and additional scientific personnel); 3) signed score declaration ("tentamenbriefje"). |

Opmerkingen | Pass mark: 6. In order to pass the master research project the student must score at least 5.5 for each aspect. Scientific integrity module is compulsory. Without having attended this module the course cannot be completed. This course was registered last year with course code WMCH19003 |
