Uitgebreide vaknaam Cognitive Modelling: Basic Principles and Methods
Leerdoelen At the end of this course, the student is able to:
1) Design and implement a model that is cognitively plausible
2) Judge the validity of the model on the basis of empirical evidence
3) Write a scientific report
Omschrijving In this class students will create a model of data that has been collected during the first weeks of the course, and write a short scientific paper on the results. To achieve this goal, components of the model will be developed during the course, and will be tested using known results from the literature.
During the first two weeks, data for the experiment will be collected, and background literature will be studied. In the second week, implementation of a first cognitive module will start that will be used to model a simple textbook example. In subsequent weeks we will repeat this for a second module. Both modules are needed to build a model for the data collected during the first week.
The final report is due by the end of the semester. There is a second chance to hand in the report at the end of IIa.

(The assignments and final model and report add up to 100 points. The number of points earned is divided by 10, and rounded to a half point, except 5.5. 55 Points are needed to pass the course. If the final report is of insufficient quality on the first attempt, the student is asked to revise it for the second attempt, after which a final number of points is determined.)
