Leerdoelen At the end of the course, the student is able to:
1) to understand and apply the techniques used
2) (statistically) analyze the research outcomes and to formulate a hypothesis.
3) to process the relevant research outcomes into a oral presentation and a written report.
Omschrijving In this course, theory and practical work will be combined to acquire knowledge and experimental skills related to signal transduction in eukaryotic cells. In particular attention will be paid to the genetic regulation and biochemistry of proteins involved in signal transduction as well as the use and understanding of the most relevant research methods for studying signal transduction. Emphasis will be on topics that relate to research on eukaryotic cells that is executed within the research institute such as chemotaxis, cell differentiation and immune response. Students will also learn to study and analyse in vivo protein interaction using confocal microscopy combined with biophysical methods.

Entreevoorwaarden The course unit assumes prior knowledge acquired from Cell Biologie, Biochemistry and Genetics at the level of the major Molecular Life Science of the bachelor Biology.
