Leerdoelen 1) read, write and edit R and Python programs in R-Studio and Spyder, respectively
2) write shell scripts in a Linux environment
3) work on the High Performance Computer (HPC) Peregrine
4) analyze, visualize and interpretate large data sets using standard statistics
5) present a project as a team
Omschrijving Biomedical sciences is a fast evolving multidisciplinary research knowledge field in which new disciplines, like bioinformatics, have advanced rapidly during recent years. This course offers students an introduction into Linux bash and shell scripting, programming in R and Python, statistics, and big data management.

Students will be trained to:
• Use High Performance Computing and data management
• Apply programming skills and statistical knowledge to analyze data
• Read, write and edit programs written in R and Python in R-Studio and Spyder, respectively
• Visualize data

Students will apply bioinformatics analyses on;
• Transcriptome data
• Proteome data
• Single Cell transcriptome profiling (scRNA-Seq)
• Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS)

This course prepares the master students for the FSE/FMW learning line “Datascience”.
