Leerdoelen | At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1) Describe invasive, obtrusive, and unobtrusive measurement techniques and common measurement errors inherent to these techniques. 2) Apply pre-processing techniques to minimize the effect of measurement errors inside a control loop. 3) Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning is in control algorithms for human machine interaction. 4) Reflect on and improve features for a control algorithm that is based on machine learning techniques using biomedical domain knowledge. 5) Explain device transparency, gravity compensation, and assist-as-needed control. 6) Generate control concepts for a robotic device that includes a human into the control loop. 7) Explain different ways of intention detection and compare them with respect to their accuracy and the timeframe that they can predict. 8) Solve unseen machine human interaction problems using an adequate control and intention prediction method for a robotic device. |

Omschrijving | The course will introduce methods that are used in human in the loop control for human machine interaction. Various measuring techniques to monitor the state of the human user including invasive, obtrusive and non-obtrusive sensors will be introduced. Through case studies the course will teach students how to select an adequate set of sensors, a control strategy, and if necessary an intention detection method for a robotic system with human machine interaction. New opportunities which artificial intelligence opens in the field of human-robot interaction will be explored. |
