Leerdoelen | At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1. Select an adequate measuring system to analyse body functions or physiological properties to determine medical problems or pathology; 2. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of measurement systems used in different medical areas (neurology, ophthalmology, cardiology, ENT, and rehabilitation); 3. Analyze data generated by measurement systems used in different medical areas; 4. Identify artefacts recorded during the use of several measurement systems and resolve analysis problems related to these artifacts; 5. Apply measurement systems to analyze and assess a patient case. |

Omschrijving | Course topics are: - Neurology: Multimodal measurements, EEG-EMG, EEG-fMRI en EMG-fMRI. - Ophtalmology: Tonometry, fundus photography, , optical coherence tomography, and biometry (keratometry and axial length measurement). - ENT: Oto Acoustic Emission measurement, Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry, Auditory Steady State Response Audiomety, Tympanometry, Stapedial Reflex Audiometry, eCAP and eABR in patients with a cochlear implant - Rehabilitation: muscle physiology and anatomy of lower extremities concerning gait analysis in patient with disabilities. Pathology; Cerebral vascular accident, Cerebral Palcy, Spina Bifida and lower limb amputation. |
