Leerdoelen | At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1) evaluate the functioning and effect of different prostheses and orthoses 2) analyse the advantages and disadvantages concerning different types of prostheses and ortheses 3) relate the functioning of prostheses and orthoses to e.g. motor control, myocontrol, and model fit 4) Integrate knowledge on anatomy, physiology, evolution, and biomechanics of normal and disturbed walking and gait into prosthesis and orthosis (model) development, production and application 5) integrate the functions, demands and wishes for a new prosthesis or orthosis into an innovative solution |

Omschrijving | In this course, students learn about different types of neuromuscular impairments of the upper and lower extremities and the state of-the-art technology in prosthetics and orthotics and other mobility assistive devices that are developed to cope with these impairments. Students learn about normal and pathological function of joints and muscles and normal and pathological mobility, understand the working mechanisms of prosthetics, orthotics, and wheelchairs, and knows about the barriers for optimal use/function. |
