Uitgebreide vaknaam Electrodynamics of Radiation Processes
Leerdoelen This course aims to teach students the fundamentals of radiative processes, from an astrophysicist's point of view.
Where possible, a link is made to observational results in astrophysics, so various applications are presented. When needed, elements from quantum physics, electromagnetic theory, special relativity, and statistical mechanics are introduced.
Omschrijving The course covers basic radiative transfer theory, radiation from moving charges, relativistic effects and covariance, bremsstrahlung, synchrotron radiation, (inverse) Compton scattering, plasma effects.
