Leerdoelen Students are able to
- Successfully work on real-life engineering design assignments within a given time frame and in a design/business context
- Effectively communicate on progress, intermediate and final design outcomes in written reports and meetings. Also, clearly present the design set-up and final outcomes in a final presentation for a broad (peers and non-peers) public. Thoroughly apply the IEM design cycle, including selection of concepts and methods for the investigation and applying a validation of the proposed design.
- Analyze and develop a customized (re) design of a technical product, production process, service, or procedure within a given (business) context
- Apply methods and techniques from previous course units to further develop design aspects. If needed, the student should be able to become familiar with new techniques, involved in the design assignment.
- Integrate knowledge and skills acquired during the IEM Bachelor phase in terms of (business) methodology and apply the technical and managerial know-how to a real life situation.
Omschrijving The Bachelor Integration Project is offered in semester II of the third year. A second option is available in semester I. In the first block of the semester, 2a (or 1a) the problem- or question analysis is applied, resulting in the research and development plan for the project, as a start-up for full-time work on the design assignment in block 2b (or 1b).
Enrollment needs to take place at the latest two months before the start of the project (via Progress). When in doubt the student can contact the study coordinator.
The projects are carried out on an individual basis. During the kick-off session the student can indicate his/her personal preferences for the projects offered. Coaching and supervision will take place both in the form of one-to-one meetings with the supervisor and group meetings. The goal of all projects is to design or redesign a technical product, a production process, system or procedure in a business or social context. The context is represented by the interested party: this can be an external company or a university department such as a research group.
Assessment of the Bachelor Integration project is based on the report, final presentation, poster and intermediate meetings.

Entreevoorwaarden The Bachelor IP is coupled to the course Design Science and therefore has the same entry requirements:
-Successful completion of Research and Design Methodology (WBIE015-05).
-Registration of at least 140 ECTS in Progress of the study programme IEM (strict requirement!)
-The propaedeutic phase has successfully been completed.
-The Bachelor study programme has to be submitted to the Board of Examiners and applied for approval of the study programme.
- (On time) enrolment in Progress for the integration project. Note: Choose the right course code/track and semester. For PTL: WBIE902-15, for SPE: WBIE901-15.
-Due to the coupling of both courses, you should also be enrolled in WBIE019-05Design Science
If you do not meet these entrance requirements you have to quit the Bachelor IP and restart next semester.
Opmerkingen The majority of activities in this course are scheduled in the second half of the semester (1b or 2b). PThe preparation of the Project will take place during Design Science inn the first half of the semester (1a or 2a), with application in the Bachelor Integration Project will partly take place in the second half of the semester (1b or 2b). Without successful completion of the first two parts of Design science, you will not be allowed to start the project activities in the second half of the semester.
The Bachelor Integration Project is an individual assignment. Supervision: both individual and group sessions.
