Omschrijving | Gaining understanding of flow sheeting software of a process. A process is a system of equipment (functional units) connected by pipes and cables to its surroundings and is usually controlled from a central place. Despite the large number of different processes there are many similarities between the functional units and their configuration within the process, reflecting in the design. This module will discuss how a conceptual process design is set up and subsequently implemented into a process design, based on basic data retrieved from research. Considerations about operability, controllability, maintainability, economics and QESH (Quality, Environment, Safety and Health) will be dealt with. On the basis of one or several familiar chemical processes, a process will be modeled with the help of a computer program. Students will first deduce the general substances, chemistry, technology and process information from published literature, which will then be used to set up a working model / mass and energy balance. | ||||||||||||

Opmerkingen | Report: The project report has to be written following the report format and contents sections handed out in advance. Presentation: Each group presents its results in a 20 min. presentation where lecturers, examiners and other students are present. Assignment: The teams are given an assignment in general terms and have to work out the specifics according to given and predefined obligatory parts. The mark is based on the reporting documents, the group presentation and the performance of the student in the assignment. Mandatory attendance: "Mandatory tutorials on ASPEN software (4x3 hours). Mandatory attendance of the QESH workshops (4x8 hours). Presence at the group discussions with the teacher on progress, results, problems and planning."
