Uitgebreide vaknaam Bachelor's Project
Leerdoelen To develop research skills by conducting a medium-sized research project.
Omschrijving The Bachelor's project is the final activity of the Bachelor's programme. It includes (compulsory) tutorials on research philosophy and ethics, on methodology and statistics, and on academic writing. The course will also include help in developing project management skills.
With regard to content, the project links up with one or more of the modules in the AI study programme. This means that in general, it will not be necessary to study much additional literature for the project and the emphasis will be more on the practical work.
Bachelor's Projects are performed within the AI department and are usually part of the research activities of the AI staff.

There are formal Graduation Regulations regarding the Bachelor's project. One of these regulations is that the project has to be finished within one semester.

At the start of the semester, students will choose from a pre-compiled list of Bachelor projects that are on offer that semester. Information on this will be presented in the first tutorial.

Entreevoorwaarden Mandatory: Propaedeutic Exam, 135 EC, 'Statistics' (WBAI049-05) and 'Data Analytics and Communication' (WBAI011-05). Additionally, students will have to have applied for their diploma in ProgressWWW before they can start this course. These requirements are based on nominal study behaviour - the requirements for the Semester II version of the course are checked based on Semester Ia of the same year, and the requirements for the Semester I version are checked based on Semester IIb of the previous year.
Advised: Students are advised to take this course at the end of their bachelor's programme, as it's the finalising element. If they happen to have the requirements for the upcoming iteration, but do not expect to finish before the end of an iteration in a later semester, they should take the bachelor's project of that semester (so at the latest possible moment in their programme).

If the mandatory requirements are not met, only the Board of Examiners of the AI BSc may grant an exemption.
Opmerkingen This course should be followed in the second semester, at the end of the Bachelor's programme. The version in Semester I is *not* for third-year students.

Artificial Intelligence (BSc) is a Fixed Quota (Numerus Fixus) programme. As a consequence, their courses (course code WBAI) are closed for students that are not registered under the AI BSc programme, unless the course is part of the mandatory curriculum of their programme. If you wish to take this course in your minor – or as part of a so-called ‘unofficial’ pre-master’s – please use the official procedure through the Board of Examiners form.
