Leerdoelen At the end of the course, the student is able to:
1) identify and discus ethical issues raised by the development of artificial intelligence.
2) gain familiarity with different moral philosophy theories, and formulate precise arguments to defend (or object to) a specific philosophical position.
3) compare practical solutions to improve the morality either of AI systems themselves or of their applications.
Omschrijving The development of artificial intelligence technologies raises or amplifies many ethical issues. The course focuses on a different theme each week, among which: what is ethics (in AI)?; responsible AI; biases and algorithmic fairness; privacy issues; machine ethics; and misinformation. For each ethical issue, the course answers the following questions: What is the issue? Is it specifically an AI issue? What can be done about it?
