Leerdoelen | At the end of this course, the student is able to: - give insight in architectures of intelligence and their scientific status; formulate advantages and disadvantages of using different architectures - develop simple to moderately complex models in a cognitive architecture |

Omschrijving | An architecture of intelligence is an environment to simulate human intelligent behavior. Architectures are implementations of general theories of cognition that have the goal to cover the full spectrum of human cognition. The goals of this course are to give insight in these architectures and their scientific status, to gain some experience in building models using an architecture, and to compare simulation results to empirical data. After this course, students will be able to explain what a cognitive architecture is, give examples of cognitive architectures at different levels of abstraction (high level: the ACT-R architecture; low level: the Nengo architecture), and formulate advantages and disadvantages of using different architectures. In addition, they will be able to build simple to medium level complexity models in ACT-R, and simple models in Nengo. Finally, they are able to compare the results of these models (behavior, fMRI predictions) to human data. | ||||||||||||||||

Opmerkingen | This course was registered last year with course code KIB.AVI03 Artificial Intelligence (BSc) is a Fixed Quota (Numerus Fixus) programme. As a consequence, their courses (course code WBAI) are closed for students that are not registered under the AI BSc programme, unless the course is part of the mandatory curriculum of their programme. If you wish to take this course in your minor – or as part of a so-called ‘unofficial’ pre-master’s – please use the official procedure through the Board of Examiners form. |
