Omschrijving | This core module focuses on the acquisition of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to analyse European decision-making and its political-juridical and social effects on the member-states of the European Union. Hereto we study the realization of European policies as a product of interaction between member-states, EU institutions and other actors, with special attention for the role of interest groups in this process, as well as the transposition of European rules in national legislation and rule-making. Theory and empiricism are thus directed towards the analysis of Europeanization processes, both in public governance of the EU member-states and ‘in a broader sense’ in their societies. How are particular member states responding to pressures of European integration? Are states and societies able (and willing) to cope with discontents of a European institutional order (the economic crisis, cultural diversity, etc.) To what extent can the existing discontents and conflicts in contemporary Europe be viewed as a catharsis for transformation and construction of a more resilient European project? | ||||||||||||
