This course offers a survey of works of art in a wide range of media (paint, stone, metal, wood, paper) during the early modern period (1400-1800). Topics include the rise of new technologies, the modern definition of art and artist, the imitation of nature, the rise of new formats and genres, and the historical embededness of artworks. |
