Omschrijving | In this course students will have the opportunity to strengthen their professional skills by learning how to develop their own media business project. This practically-oriented course centres on media entrepreneurship, and offers students hands-on experience in: developing their own media business project, presenting their ideas in an evocative manner, and reflecting on contemporary media entrepreneurship trends. The future of media entrepreneurship is in flux; due to disruptive media technologies, professions in the media landscape are changing. For instance, online shopping is changing retail business, the internet of things and bitcoin technologies may change how media consumers relate to their technologies, and trust in institutions. Online services change how media are produced and consumed - think about revenue streams from online advertising and how these streams may influence media content - and influence how media businesses relate to their consumers. Does this also mean that future media entrepreneurs need different tactics as well as skills to develop their ideas? In this course students explore the changing media landscape from the entrepreneurial perspective, as well as develop their own media business ideas. Students will study examples of media business innovation, will work collaboratively with peers to create prototypes for their own media projects, and write a plan and reflection concerning that prototype. This allows students to engage with the great potential of an entrepreneurial outlook, and to learn to verbalize their own qualities in a way that allows them to couple these with entrepreneurship. | ||||||||||||||||
