| Leerdoelen | 1. To have knowledge and understanding of key theories and concepts in media studies; 2. To apply knowledge of key theories and scholarship to academically and socially relevant issues and debates in media studies; 3. To produce conceptually theoretically sound essays; 4. To develop theoretically informed judgments about the ways in which the media act and perform in society; 5. To critically engage with different theories and approaches in media studies; 6. To be able to reflect critically on the strengths and limitations of their own work and that of peers; 7. To communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, the results of research and to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to specialist and non- specialist audiences; 8. To interact respectfully and constructively with others, share. |

| Omschrijving | The course will put at the centre of discussions the ‘materiality’ of media (grounded in media studies). The theoretical concepts derived from these discussions will be used as critical tools through which to inquire how media is constructed and how it performs in society. | ||||||||||||||||
