Leerdoelen To actively engage with topics of ethical and legal relevance within journalism in different countries; to be able to discuss the above mentioned topics within global frameworks and develop the ability to compare e.g. ethical practices across countries; to gain a basic understanding of media policy in different countries; to develop knowledge about and critically engage with the possibilities and problems of diverse business models currently present in the profession; to further strengthen the ability of students to critically reflect upon literature and lectures in a written exam
Omschrijving Throughout seven sessions we will address a diverse range of developments in the media industry that are of vital importance to the profession journalism. The lectures aim to foster a general understanding of current business practices and include discussions of ethical issues. We will pay a great deal of attention to emerging trends in the news media field while the whole spectrum of journalistic outlets, including print, online and broadcast are taken into consideration. The final exam will test knowledge and understanding of the assigned literature and the lectures.
