Leerdoelen | After completing this course the student is able to: - Understand and use distant reading methods on text corpora - Analyze digital texts with computational stylistic and text analysis methods - Present results in visualizations and tables, and discuss what these results mean for their research question and existing literature. |

Omschrijving | This course builds on the Digital Skills course by exploring computational stylistics and text analysis in several mini-projects. Students gain experience with formulating research questions, testing hypotheses, and reporting results using techniques under the umbrella of distant reading. The course covers authorship attribution, sentiment analysis, and topic models. These methods are applied to various datasets ranging from literary texts to social media posts. | ||||||||||||
