Omschrijving | Would you want to learn how to reinforce your story with solid data visuals? Various challenges arise when visualising data. How do you tailor your graphic to your audience? Do you want to inform your audience or do you want them to engage? How do your choices affect the image that you are creating and the message that it tells? In this course we are dealing with such questions. Using real world examples we will help you understand how to get started with data visualisation and how to make well-founded choices. In a series of 6 sessions you will get to know more about static visualisations, interactive visualisations and what are their pros and cons. You will be given information and tools to work with, but this skill cannot be learned without putting it into practice. Therefore you will find yourself working on tutorials and assignments most of the time during the sessions. In the last session you will give a presentation about a subject of your choice where you will show your newly gained skill. You will learn to work with different tools to visualise data, like QGIS, Excel, Gapminder and ArcGIS Story Maps. After this course you are able to create static and interactive maps and charts, but most of all, you will be able to choose between the infinite number of options that you face when you are visualising data. |
