Omschrijving | The course aims to equip students with knowledge on theories of crime, ranging from research that emphasized societal and neighborhood conditions as explanations for why people commit crimes to the role close others play, to personality, and genetic factors. Next to becoming acquainted with different explanations for crime, students will get to know a wide spectrum of social scientific research methods. Short (online) lectures and discussion boards will be used to disseminate and talk about content. Students will also work on individual and small group projects in which they explore specific topic and cases independently and present their research in an end-of-course (online) conference. |
