Uitgebreide vaknaam Linear Algebra for EOR
Leerdoelen Upon completion of the course the student is able to:
1. Compute the real (complex) eigenvalues and real (complex) eigenvectors of square matrices, to determine the algebraic and geometric multiplicity of eigenvalues, and to compute generalized eigenvectors.
2. Check and prove (formulating correctly and completely) if a given quadratic form is positive (negative) definite.
3. Solve certain first order differential equations and certain systems of linear difference (or differential) equations.
4. Analyze local stability of equilibria of certain simple systems and generate phase portraits of some planar systems.
5. Compute the determinant of square matrices.
6. Check and prove (formulating correctly and completely) if a given set is a linear space, and to check and prove if a given subset of a linear space is a linear subspace.
7. Compute a basis of a linear space (or abstract linear space) and to prove (formulating correctly and completely) the computed result
8. Compute the dimension of a linear subspace (or abstract linear subspace) and to prove (formulating correctly and completely) the computed result
9. Compute the matrix corresponding to a given linear map w.r.t. a given basis of the Euclidean space (basis transformations)
