Leerdoelen | Upon completion of the course the student is able to: 1. Describe different basic models of theoretical corporate finance. 2. Evaluate the structure of a simple contracting model. 3. Set up the theoretical framework of a simple moral hazard model in corporate finance. 4. Explain the difference between complete and incomplete contracting models. 5. Explain important concepts regarding contract theory, like incentive compatible and participation constraints. 6. Describe different forms of active and passive monitoring models. 7. Present and critically discuss a basic theoretical moral hazard model in corporate finance. |

Omschrijving | This course provides a theoretical introduction to corporate finance, financial structure of the firm and financial contracting. The course elaborates on corporate finance topics covered in introductory corporate finance courses in bachelor programmes. The distinctive feature of the course is that it emphasizes the theoretical foudations of corporate finance and hence focuses on theoretical models, rather than practical rules and/or details of institutional arrangements. The course will use many insights from contract theory, and especially focuses on moral hazard behavior and principal-agent problems. | ||||||||
