Leerdoelen Upon completion of this course, students are able to:
• Have an overview and generally appreciation of the statistical methods and models for analyzing market dynamics
• Understand and explain the fundamentals of statistical methods and models for analyzing market dynamics
• Apply statistical methods and models for analyzing market dynamics (required data, software, interpretation of outcomes, obtain and present business insights, etc.)
• Evaluate the scientific application of statistical methods and models for analyzing dynamics by other researchers
Omschrijving Many aspects of markets show important dynamics over time. The effects of policy decisions change over time, consumer behavior varies over the customer life cycle, failure rates of machines will vary over time, etc. In this course, the participants will learn the statistical methods and models for analyzing such market dynamics. The following methods will be taught: models with time-varying parameters, duration or hazard models, and hidden markov models. The underlying statistical methods be discussed and the students will apply these methods on data in a series of assignments.
