Leerdoelen Upon completion of the course the student is able to:
1. Explain and discuss the major research approaches in leadership research and practice.
2. Recognize how leadership can be conceptualized and examined as an individual, dyadic, group, and organizational process.
3. Explain the role of human resource management in leadership.
4.Apply leadership theories and key concepts in the leadership domain to analyze leadership issues.
5. Prepare and conduct an interview with an HR executive in an organization to explore leadership-related questions or topics. These questions will be discussed in a group consult session (oral presentation) and answered in a an advisory report, based on leadership research.
6. Recognize the psychological and ethical and consequences of leadership in organizations.
Omschrijving Leadership is among the most important and most widely studied topics in organizational research. Effective leadership is crucial for the success of individuals, work teams, and organizations, and HR plays a crucial role in selecting, developing, and assessing leadership in organizations. This course affords students with a broad overview of key theoretical approaches to leadership and recent theoretical and empirical research insights, while simultaneously considering leadership topics relevant for human resource management. Students learn how to critically evaluate leadership research, and how to apply theories and research findings to analyze leadership-related topics or questions in organizations within the context of human resource management.
