Leerdoelen Upon completion of the course, students gained an in-depth understanding how innovation and entrepreneurship can be stimulated. Students will be able to assess how the design of policy interventions promotes adjustment capabilities of an economy and individual firms.The course enables students to evaluate policy instruments based on theoretical considerations as well as implementation of adequate empirical evaluation strategies. A special focus on organizational implementation aims at developing students’ capabilities to manage and utilize supportive programs. These aspects will allow students to contribute to the design of strategies and policies to foster knowledge and innovation in organizations and society.
Omschrijving The aim of the course is to give students a basic understanding of the relationship between entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development. Students will learn about different policy areas related to the innovation system such as science policy, innovation policy, technology policy, knowledge policy and entrepreneurship policy. The course teaches students basic principles of national and sectoral innovation systems, industrial dynamics, and the role of innovation and entrepreneurship for firm growth and economic development. Other important subjects include the design and methods for program evaluations, the design of policy mixes, and exercises to develop skills to work on the interface between technology and societal issues.
