Leerdoelen Upon completion of the course students are able to:
1. Recognize and describe the role of information technology in innovation management;
2. Understand and explain major concepts, theories, and models in strategic management of information technology;
3. Apply their knowledge to identify and describe various innovation issues and associated technology-based solutions;
4. Apply their knowledge to evaluate the value of technology-based solutions for innovation;
5. Apply their knowledge to analyze and write a report about how information technology supports innovation in real-world business cases.
Omschrijving Information technology increasingly plays a principle role as the enabler or inhibitor for organizations to develop innovation.Strategically managing information technology is paramount importance to contemporary companies. The key objective of this course for students is to understand the critical and nuanced role of information technology in innovation. The alignment between innovation management and information technology management is the focus of this course. Through this course, students will learn how to identify and analyze strategic issues related to using information technology for innovation. There are no simple, right answers. Students are trained on how to deal with innovation management in a creative, technology-based approach.

Entreevoorwaarden Students need to have fundamental knowledge about innovation management.
Opmerkingen This course covers cutting-edge knowledge about the role of information technology in innovation management. The teaching methods include lectures by the instructors, in-class discussion between the instructors and students, and a practical assignment for student groups. Attendance is not enforced by grade. Yet, preparation for, attendance at, and participation in lectures is required for students. Students need to read a series of academic articles before each lecture, and do a group assignment by conducting in-depth case studies at real companies.
