Leerdoelen 1. reflect on the main theoretical and empirical insights from organization theory.
2. evaluate the usefulness of these theories for empirical research and practice.
3. present the relevant ‘state of the art’ academic research to a “knowledgeable” audience.
4. formulate relevant academic questions that are raised during the presentations of fellow students (presenters).
5. analyze the problems that are raised during the presentations and discussions, and be able to suggest answers.
6. Critically review academic articles in the field of organization theory.
Omschrijving The course consists of one introduction session and three modules. Jointly, these modules will give students a state-of-art overview of core theories in the field of organization theory. Each module consists of three half day workshops. In each half-day workshop, two papers will be discussed by means of presentation, review, and summary assignments. Students are expected to prepare presentation, review, and summary assignments for each half day workshop. Grading for this course will be based on the evaluation of the presentation, review, and summary assignments.

Entreevoorwaarden For students in the Research Master in Economics & Business. Students are expected to have a Bachelor's degree in Management, or Organization. They should possess basic knowledge of core management disciplines such as strategic management, information systems, logistics, marketing, operations and HRM. They should also be equipped with the necessary analytical and language skills to: (1) diagnose problems of organizations; (2) propose workable solutions, and; (3) present ideas in a structured and systematic manner.
