Leerdoelen | Upon completion of this course the student is able to: - understand the major theories and concepts used in the field of strategic management (i.e. resource-based view of the firm, agency theory); - question and appraise the essential components of strategic management, strategic analysis, and strategy formulation in companies; - develop firm strategies based on theory, models, and internal and external analysis of the firm and its environment; - identify and evaluate new challenges and opportunities arising in a global and digitalizing market place, and their possible impact on the strategy of a firm and its business model; - give recommendations about how an organization can improve its business model performance given the external developments and a company's competencies. |

Omschrijving | In this course, students take a deep dive into the most relevant strategic analysis tools (PESTEL-analysis, SWOT-analysis, Abell-model, etc.) organizations can use in their strategy formulation process. Students further elaborate on the impact of strategic forces on the companies’ business model and how these business models should change stay ahead or become successful again. | ||||||||||||
