Upon completion of this course the student is able to:
- understand the major theories and concepts used in the field of strategic management (i.e. resource-based view of the firm, agency theory)
- question and appraise the essential components of strategic management, strategic analysis and strategy formulation in companies
- develop firm strategies based on theory, models and internal and external analysis of the firm and its’ environment
- identify and evaluate new challenges and opportunities arising in a global and digitalizing market place, and their possible impact on the strategy of a firm and its business model
- give recommendations about how a company can improve its business model to gain a stronger position in the market given the external developments and a company's competences
Omschrijving In this course, students take a deep dive into the most relevant strategic analysis tools (PESTAL-analysis, SWOTI-analysis, Abell-model, etc.) companies can use in their strategy formulation process. Students further elaborate on the impact of strategic forces on the companies’ business model and how these business models should change stay a head or become successful again.
