Omschrijving | Writing scientific reports, articles and papers is an essential skill for any academic. In this course premaster students for the MSc EES are trained to write individually a scientific review paper in English. Students have to dig into scientific literature and give an overview of the current developments and issues in a relevant energy topic. The topic is determined by the staff and depends on the scientific background of the student. The student will receive the topic including some general requirements and instructions. The first step for the student is to write a well-structured plan of action, including a planning, that gives a good insight in the road map to the final paper. The next and final step is to write the final version of the paper. There will be no feedback from staff on any concept versions other than the plan of action. The position of the Energy Paper as part of the premaster programme is flexible. Please contact the course coordinator to discuss this in advance. The course is assessed on the following criteria in line with the learning objectives: -structure of the plan of action and the final paper -clear overview of the topic at different scales in space and time -interdisciplinary approach with an emphasis on natural science and engineering aspects including the most relevant socio-economic issues -use of scientific literature and sources including correct referencing -compare your own opinion with findings in the literature -clear time planning and implementation accordingly -use of neutral, scientific language -clear lay-out |
