Students will be able to understand the demands of specialised practice in EU international trade law; and will have developed a good understanding of this fast-moving area of EU Law.
Omschrijving This course looks at EU Trade law in the light of the EU’s external relations law and policy. After discussing the development of the EU’s competence in external relations and trade, the course looks at the interaction between political aspects of external relations and trade aspects, and then considers the various trade defence measures open to the EU (such as anti-dumping, anti-subsidies, safeguard measures) and the Trade Barriers Regulation. It will also consider proposed Multilateral Investment Treaties, such as TTIP and look at the EU's neighbourhood policy from the point of view of trade agreements.
