Omschrijving With help of real life examples, this course shows how designs are a planners tool to connect a variety of interests and opinions into a seductive image of a possible future for a place. The course discusses the commissioner of the planner: society, or at least of part of society. Theories of problem solving are explained; tracing types of assumptions and arguments and how to come to creative answers to complicated questions. With help of many examples, it is explained what spatial concepts are. With their charismatic simplicity and applicability for various places, they connect people and organizations in a common ambition. Historical references can be an important inspiration. Every other week, a case is visited, showing the stories behind old, recent and future spatial patterns. Participation in the field work is mandatory.
