Leerdoelen | At the end of the final research project the student is able to: - conduct controlled and effective scientific research in the area of artificial intelligence; - independently investigate and critically evaluate literature relevant to the project; - formulate relevant research questions, - formulate realistic research approaches to tackle complex questions and adjust if necessary; - reflect critically on ethical issues in relation to the Dutch code of conduct of scientific research as well as the code of conduct at the host institute; - develop and/or apply research methods to answer research questions in artificial intelligence; - document and organize scientific data, in accord with the faculty regulations; - manage time and priorities to reach research objectives in the allocated period; - professionally work with the different stakeholders of the research project - reflect critically on one’s own attitude towards the research and research environment and adapt if necessary; - draw conclusions based on research outcome; - discuss the conclusions in the context of the state-of-the-art of the research field; - write a clear, structured and well-referenced scientific report detailing the research project’s hypothesis, findings, and conclusions; - effectively communicate acquired knowledge both orally and in writing. |

Omschrijving | The final research project is one of the last parts of the Master’s degree programme. In this project, students have to write a research proposal, and (after the research proposal is accepted) perform and critically evaluate the research project and its results. The final research project is concluded with a thesis and colloquium presentation. The supervisor(s) will evaluate both of these. Please check the Student Portal for more information. Entreevoorwaarden | Mandatory: Students are expected to have obtained 60 ECTS of their master's programme; to have completed the general mandatory courses (Design of Multi-Agent Systems, Machine Learning, Deep Learning); and to have completed the courses mandatory for their specialisation. Finally, students should apply for their diploma in ProgressWWW, before they can start the project. Note: Start preparing for your project early, at least three months in advance. If the mandatory requirements are not met, only the Board of Examiners of the AI MSc may grant an exemption. Students who have not been able to take their specialisation courses because of circumstances that were out of their hands will be granted an exemption without issue (and are advised to work on a detailed planning with their academic advisor and/or graduation supervisor). |
