Leerdoelen | At the end of this course, the student is able to: 1) recognize and describe the workings of different voting rules. 2) recognize and describe different types of aggregation of individually elicited information. 3) state and prove key theorems of social choice theory. 4) use insights from computational complexity theory to analyze voting rules. 5) conduct independent research on topics related to computational social choice. |

Omschrijving | Social choice is a branch of theoretical economics. It studies mechanisms for collective decision-making (like voting). Computational social choice enriches the economic perspective on the study of collective decision-making mechanisms with a computer science angle. The course provides an introduction to computational social choice. It is a research-oriented course and presupposes some mathematical maturity on the part of the students (intended as having experience in writing mathematical proofs). |
