Leerdoelen | PLEASE NOTE that the goals and content of this course may change, due to change of the course coordinator. At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1) describe the area of Multi-Agent Systems and agent-based modelling. 2) comprehend research articles in the area of Multi-Agent Systems. 3) implement simple Multi-Agent Systems and run experiments. 4) state and test a hypothesis using Multi-Agent Systems. |

Omschrijving | This course is about the design of multi-agent systems and its uses for modelling. Examples of the use of agent-based models in several fields (e.g., biology, anthropology, linguistics, law, economy) will be discussed. In comparison to the course "Logical Aspects of Multi-Agent Systems" the emphasis here is more on implementation and simulation than on formal aspects. |

Toetsvorm |
Practisch werk (PR), Presentatie (P), Verslag (R)
(40% Documentation Report, 30% Project Presentation, 30% Implementation. Students must submit (drafts of) the report and the software at various stages during and at the end of the course. Moreover, every group must give a presentation at the end of the course. Missing/extending one or two of the deadlines will be accepted. There are no other grade requirements (other than a minimum of 5.5), i.e. balancing report / presentation / implementation grades with each other is possible.) |

Entreevoorwaarden | Mandatory: No prior knowledge is assumed. Please note that the student is expected to have a relevant BSc degree. Advised: Students should have taken a related undergraduate course similar to those in the BSc Artificial Intelligence, for example "Knowledge and Agent Technology" or "Self-organization of ecological and social systems". Moreover, students should be fluent in a common programming language and able to implement given algorithms. Familiarity with the agent-paradigm and related frameworks or libraries is a plus. |
||||||||||||||||
Opmerkingen | This course trains the students in doing their own research projects. More specifically, it prepares students for graduation projects, if they choose to do it in the area of Multi-Agent Systems. | ||||||||||||||||
