Leerdoelen | At the end of the course unit, students are able to: 1) describe the various imaging techniques that are used in radiology departments, 2) give a global run-down of how each technique works, 3) explain the differences between the various techniques, 4) and study images to determine which techniques have been used. |

Omschrijving | This course unit explores the basics of the various imaging techniques used in radiology departments. The following subjects from the book The Essential Physics of Medical Imaging (3rd edition, 2012) by Bushberg are taught in the form of lectures (Chapters 3-4, 6-10): the interaction between radiation and tissue, image quality, X-ray production and X-ray tubes, radiography, mammography, fluoroscopy, computer tomography and ltrasound. In addition, hand-outs are provided to teach the basics of magnetic resonance imaging and image processing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
