This course broadens and deepens the students’ knowledge and understanding of linguistic theory, focusing on syntax and semantics. It covers the essential concepts in syntax and semantics, the relation between syntax and semantics and the relation between semantics and pragmatics. The course discusses how syntactic and semantic phenomena are approached in present-day linguistic research and stimulates a critical evaluation of the theories and methods underlying linguistic research. |
