Leerdoelen | Upon successful completion of the course unit, students: 1. Have acquired basic knowledge of the most widely used neuroimaging techniques in language research (e.g., fMRI, MEG, EEG/ERPs) 1.1 2. Are able to understand how neuroimaging can be used in language research 1.1, 1.2 3. Have detailed knowledge of the use of ERPs in language research in terms of experimental design and functional interpretation of language-related components. 1.2, 1.3 4. Are able to formulate an original research question on language processing using ERPs. 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2 5. Are able to embed the research question within the recent literature on ERPs and most recent functional description of language-related components. 1.2, 3.1, 5.1 6. Are able to come up with an adequate experimental design for said research question. 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 3.2, 5.1 7. Are able to present their research proposal in proper academic English. 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 |

Omschrijving | The goal of this course is to provide an overview of how different neuroimaging techniques can be used to study language and the brain (i.e., localization and processing), as well as to enable students to formulate (original) research questions on language processing using one neuroimaging technique (i.e., event-related potentials). | ||||||||
