Omschrijving	This is an introductory course on digital humanities theory. Aim is to familiarize students, who come from different disciplinary backgrounds – ranging from ancient history to Dutch literature or from computational linguistics to media studies – with a number of important debates in digital humanities. The course will give an overview of this new and dynamic field and learn how the humanities engaged with digital and information technologies so far, and which multiple perspectives define the field today. What kind of knowledge is produced within this field and how does it influence more traditional approaches? Since this is the first course in the theoretical learning pathway, students are challenged to discuss and reflect critically with each other, with the aim of finding common ground for the coming year.
