Leerdoelen | Upon successful completion of the course unit, student will be able to (number of learning outcome of the degree programme in the OER): 1. Recognize and follow the reasoning behind a psycholinguistics/neurolinguistics study and the relevant theoretical background, and being able to describe these studies in their own words. ( learning outcome 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 3.1); 2. Connect a typical theoretical research question within psycholinguistics to an appropriate empirical way of testing this. (1.2); 3. Replicate or think of a psycholinguistic study and carry it out. (1.1-1.4, 4.1); 4. Write an empirical research report on the results of a study following APA guidelines. (4.1) |

Omschrijving | The central theme of this module is how multiple languages are acquired, how they develop and how they are represented in the brain. It looks at how the processing of the languages in a multilingual takes place at phonological, grammatical, lexical and pragmatic levels. Topics dealt with include early and late acquisition of additional languages, processes of production and perception, language attrition, cognitive consequences of multilingualism and the multilingual brain. | ||||||||
