Omschrijving Real Estate Development (RED) is the MSc. RES Capstone course unit and designed for students majoring in Real Estate Studies.

The course consists of Theory lectures, and Seminars. During Theory lectures we discuss stylized facts and mechanisms at work in real estate markets. We discuss the implications of sustainable development for developers, households, tenants and real estate investors. We discuss consequences for (rental) prices, operating income, initial/exit yields and the stock of built environment. The lectures contain 3 modules:
- RED Economics & Finance

Seminars given by RE experts provide practical knowledge and input for the group assignment. During the course, students work in groups to formulate a RED Development Case, and present this in front of a Jury.

This is a Capstone course and it is assumed that students have or obtain an understanding of principles of economics, finance and geography as summarized in for instance: Brueggeman, W., J. Fisher (2011) Real Estate and Investments. 14th ed. McGraw-Hill, and Evans, A.W. (2004) Economics, Real Estate, and the Supply of Land. Blackwell.
