| Leerdoelen | At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1.Getting acquainted with other fields of knowledge Students are able to write an independent advise with concepts from business administration, innovation management, public administration, policy sciences and Science and Technology studies. 2. Personal development They are able to show leadership that fits their personality and the needs of the group. Students will have the skills to do project work in a group and alone. They have insight in their own strengths and challenges 3. Bridging fields of knowledge They are able to understand and to handle (business and policy) perspectives of others. They are able to create synergy from multiple domains. 4.Applying in social context They are able to judge their own discipline critically and in context to other disciplines and society. They are able to find a balance between the individual interest and the group interest. They are able to act as a science adviser in an ethical way. They know how to implement innovations in a sustainable way 5.Effective communication They are able to communicate in an effective way to target groups. They are able to evaluate their advice so that it is implementable. 6.Over all Science advising Students will be able to consider their role(s) in science advising critically. |

| Omschrijving | This module is structured as follows: 1. Preparation work placement (at university, 2 weeks, end of December) 2. Work placement part 1, including Writing Plan of Action (at company or organization, 8 weeks) 3. Midterm week (at university, 1 week) 4. Work placement part 2 (at company or organization, 3 months) 5. Conference (at university, 1 week in july) During the work placement outside the university the student acts as science advisor, who analyses a business or policy problem that needs scientific knowledge to solve it. The student then writes a report with well-argued suggestions to solve the problem. The student implements the skills he/she has learned in the modules Science and Business and Science and Policy. The student gets acquainted with the organization (structure, culture, personality) by performing tasks within the organization. Thus the student gets valuable experience in a multidisciplinary environment. The work placement starts in January and ends in July. The student must find a work placement by himself, with help of the SBP-staff. This is prepared during the SBP courses. The work placement should have a (beta) science aspect (25-50%) that is on master level and matches the program of the student, a business and/or policy aspect (25-50%) and sufficient prospects for implementation of the advice. Subgrades need to be 5,5 or higher for a pass |
