Omschrijving | The Master’s research project is an individual research project that is carried out under the supervision of an examiner from Applied Physics. The research is completed by a master’s report and a presentation to an academic and professional audience. The following steps are part of the master thesis protocol: 1. The student chooses a research group and principal (first) examiner/supervisor. The research project takes place in one of the applied physics research groups: • Device Physics of Complex Materials • Materials Science • Micromechanics • Nanostructured Materials and Interfaces • Photophysics and opto-electronics • Physics of Nanodevices • Quantum Interactions and Structural Dynamics 2. The student and first examiner fill in the Registration and Planning Form. The form should be sent to the programme coordinator (via the Education Support Desk, or via mail: escphysics@rug.nl) who will register the project and ask for approval by the Board of Examiners. 3. At the end of the project, a scientific report will be written and the results will be presented to the research group of the first examiner, in the presence of the second examiner. 4. The project will be assessed and a final grade will be assigned according to the criteria described in the MSc Research Assessment Form. 5. To finalize the research project: a) a copy of the master thesis must be uploaded to the repository of the university library by the student; b) a copy of the assessment form, signed by the examiners, must be handed in at the ESD by one of the examiners. |
