Leerdoelen	At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1. Distinguish between different type of nanomaterials and the relationship between their chemistry and their functionality (how different nanomaterials properties originate from their chemical and physical structures). 2. Propose industrial methods to produce nanomaterials with a given functionality. 3. Propose the adequate nanomaterial for a given industrial application. 4. Discuss and draft a scientific patent for a certain nanotechnology matter.
Omschrijving	The course follows a structure-functionality-application strategy with focus on industrial nanomaterials and nanotechnological techniques. The relationship between the production of the nanomaterials and their structure (which influences their physical properties) will be correlated with their application in industry. State of the art technology in nanomaterials will be discussed also with invited experts from industry in specific fields. During the course, 2-4 invited guests from industry, leaders in their field, will give their perspective during an invited lecture.
