Leerdoelen | The student has up to date knowledge on molecular mechanisms of drug-induced toxicology. At the end of the course the student is able to 1) explain various toxicokinetic mechanisms underlying drug-induced toxicity 2) explain various toxicodynamic mechanisms underlying drug-induced toxicity 3) analyse species and organ selectivity of drug toxicity based on toxicodynamic and toxicokinetic determinants of toxicity 4) explain how several molecular toxicological mechanisms can interfere with cellular homeostasis and predict the body’s reaction to this 5) elucidate the molecular mechanism of toxicity induced by selected drugs by studying recent scientific literature 6) effectively communicate the results of the literature study in a written assignment (essay) 7) effectively present the theory of the textbook and studied scientific literature in an oral presentation |

Omschrijving | Toxic effects of drugs on the cellular level can be mediated by various different molecular mechanisms, and can be characterised by various biomarkers. The student acquires knowledge on these mechanisms and biomarkers by lectures, text book and literature study and by exchanging the results with other students. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
