Leerdoelen At the end of the course, the student is able to:

1. apply the bachelor's topics treated in abstract algebra and in basic Mastermath courses in advanced examples relevant to the course in question.
2. apply the theory and algorithms presented in the course in concrete examples.

3. understand, analyze and evaluate current techniques in an advanced topic in algebraic number theory or arithmetic geometry of current research interest.

4. create proofs and/or algorithms in an advanced topic in algebraic number theory or arithmetic geometry of current research interest.
Omschrijving The subject of the course is an advanced topic in arithmetic geometry or number theory of current research interest. The content varies every year. It will be announced on Nestor and the website of the lecturer.

This course can prepare students for a master project in arithmetic geometry or number theory.

Entreevoorwaarden The content of the courses Group theory, algebraic structures, metric spaces and advanced algebraic structures are required. The Mastermath course on Algebraic Number Theory is helpful, but not mandatory.
Students who are missing some of this background (including algebraic number theory) and would like to follow the course should contact the lecturer before the start of the course.
