Leerdoelen | At the end of the course, the student is able to: 1) Describe the objectives of scientific work in non-academic companies and institutions. 2) Investigate an assigned topic in a short time. 3) Discuss the topic in an interdisciplinary team. 4) Present their findings in a clear and comprehensive manner in an oral presentation. 5) Present their findings in a clear and comprehensive manner in a written report. 6) Identify the commercial aspects and marketing potential of their findings. |

Omschrijving | Research topics will be provided by participating companies or organizations. Research topics are typically centered on biotechnology and bioprocessing, ecology, population science or pharmaceutical science. Students are expected to investigate the literature and other sources on the assigned topic, and will work in interdisciplinary teams to combine their findings in written and oral reports. The students will be mentored by a supervisor, with whom they discuss their findings, prepare a written report and oral presentation, and receive a grade from. The completed work will be followed up with the Study Tour along the participating companies organised by GLV-idun where a site visit is combined with a presentation of the company on aims and acquisition of scientific staff. During the visit each groups will also present their findings to their participating companies and hand over the written report. |

Please enroll via Progress (Graduate school/MSc Biology Linnaeusborg) and submit an academic curriculum vitae (CV) to studytour@idun.nl. Students from Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Medical and Pharmaceutical Science, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Ecology and Evolution, Marine Biology, and Industrial Engineering and Management can register for the course. |
