This course aims to teach students the fundamentals of radiative processes, from an astrophysicist's point of view. Where possible, a link is made to observational results in astrophysics, so various applications are presented. When needed, elements from quantum physics, electromagnetic theory, special relativity, and statistical mechanics are introduced. |

The course covers basic radiative transfer theory, radiation from moving charges, relativistic effects and covariance, bremsstrahlung, synchrotron radiation, (inverse) Compton scattering, plasma effects. |
