Omschrijving The Biochemistry course provides in basic knowledge in biochemistry. The course is based on the book Biochemistry (Berg et al., 9th edition). It explores the function and mechanism of essential biomolecules, covering DNA, RNA, proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. The structure and function of DNA and proteins will be discussed in detail. Except for emphasis on the theory of (1) the mechanism of transcription & translation, and (2) the structure & function of proteins, the course will also focus on the experimental techniques used in biochemical research.

(Computer practicals need to be completed, otherwise a re-sit is needed of the computer practicals. The final grade consist of 90 points for the exam + 5 points for the computer assignment + 5 points for the assignments from the tutorials. Students need 55 points in total to pass.)
